Hello, everyone.

I am sad to admit that I have been neglecting my digital track for a very long time.  With SlotFest looming this weekend, I have just tidied up the room the track is in, and am back in business so we can get some practice in with the Minis.  The track is running great, the computer still works, and RCS64 is doing its thing just fine.  I think.

My first problem is that I don't seem to be able to exit the pit menu.  I have the SmartSensors for pit entry/exit, and it definitely sees the car enter the pit lane.  It applies the blip of brake to slow it down, per the menu setting, and opening the pit menu either manually or automatically works fine.  Keep in mind I'm currently just doing Practice sessions, and don't have fuel burn enabled.  I can access the menu, and flick through the tyre options with the LC button, and invoke a tyre change with the Brake button, but once the tyres are changed, the car just sits there.  It doesn't seem to get the power back.  When I apply throttle, I get sound effects, and the bar to the right of the menu goes up and down to indicate that the throttle input is being seen, but the car just sits there.  It may seem like a fundamental question, but how do I exit the pit lane menu and get power back to the car?  If I push it over the exit SmartSensor it sees that the car has left the pit, and the power comes back on, but it seems to me that I ought to be able to drive the car out of the pit lane under its own steam.

Also, I see from the car's behaviour that a pit lane speed limit kicks in.  Is that speed limit user configurable?  I've hunted through the menus but can't find a setting for it.

I am running RCS64 v4.1.0.137 on Windows 7.

Cheers,
Stuart.

Hello.

With the current pit lane deal going on via the Scalextric website, it has thrown my focus back onto pit lane sensors.  The deal includes the Pit Lane Game and a bunch of pit lane track.  However, in my case, I am space limited, so extra track isn't much use to me *now*, and I would have to reconfigure things a bit to fit a PitPROed Pit Lane Game into my layout.  So, instead of being seduced by this amazing deal, I might be better just putting the money towards a set of SmartSensors (as they drop in without taking up any additional space), since the price works out about the same.

However, the idea of wireless throttles in the Mega Sensor is very appealing.  But, I haven't seen any updates on it recently.  In fact, the last one I saw seemed to indicate that the Mega Sensor was being shelved because of the development effort going on between SCS and TruSpeed to deliver a complete wireless solution based on the TruSpeed controllers.  I would love to get the SmartSensors, but don't want to spend money on the basic version when it would be better saved and put towards the Mega version later.

So, is the Mega Sensor still under development?  Or am I safe to buy the SmartSensor without fear of buyer's remorse later in the year?

Cheers,
Stuart.

Issues with version 4 / Latency Reset by Windows Update
« on: December 08, 2014, 07:39:56 PM »
FYI, Windows Update just installed a newer FTDI driver on my PC, and the latency was reset back to 17.  Sure, it's no big deal to change it to 1 again, but it is something to watch out for, especially if you suddenly start having odd problems after system updates have been applied.

+1 for a RallyCross mode, as has been mentioned before on SF months ago.

I don't agree with including the Sin Bin from GRC.  It is one of the sillier aspects of the US version of the sport.  Code it in if you wish, but please have a way for us to switch it off.

In addition to validating the number of jokers taken by monitoring a SmartSensor (I assume not taking enough jokers would incur a time penalty), could it also automatically add penalties if too many jokers are taken?  The joker isn't always longer, and an advantage could be gained by taking extra jokers where it is a shorter section of track.  For example, on my layout, the pit lane would be my joker section, but it is on the inside of a turn, and hence a shorter distance to travel.

A jump start usually means an extra joker as a penalty.  Could there be a flexible penalty selection for jump starts?  That is to say, if the joker is a shortcut, you don't want to give an advantage to someone as a penalty.  You may instead want to take one joker away, or just add a time penalty.

RallyCross heats are based on fastest times, not finishing positions.  Would the race management portion be able to manage heat times during an event and generate a ladder for finals/semi-finals based on heat times, then switch to finishing positions for the finals/semi-finals?
