Issues with version 4 / Re: Damage points
« on: December 09, 2014, 10:46:04 PM »
GRUNZ, you are correct, it was the driver NOT making the track call that lost the point.  I didn't know that any driver could take a damage point away from themselves by pressing their LC.  That is most likely what happened.  I'll verify that was the case the next time we race.

Great, thank you.  I was looking for a drop down box similar to the way you change the throttle profile.  Never thought to try the LC button.  Thanks again!

Martin, I'm not sure I understand what you mean by the start menu.  Is that the screen that pops up right before the race begins (where the throttle profiles can be changed and all drivers must press the brake button to start the race)?

v4 how it works / Start race on ???? tires
« on: December 09, 2014, 02:02:17 PM »
It has been a while since I have used the old version of RCS, but I seem to remember being able to choose which tire you start the race on (Hard/Soft/Wet).  I cant find that option in the new version.  Every race seems to start the cars on hard tire.  Is that option in the new version?  Can somebody help me find it?

Issues with version 4 / Damage points
« on: December 09, 2014, 01:58:47 PM »
I have to do some more investigating on this one, because it is intermittent.  When racing last night with my son, we switched to analog mode (not sure if that is relevant, but that was the mode we were in).  During the race, a track call was made (manually) and the damage point was taken from the wrong driver.  For instance, at one point in the race, I had all 5 damage points remaining, and my son was down to 1.  I made a track call and his points went to zero.  He thought that this happened one other time, but I don't remember all the details and thought he just misread the screen.  But when it was his last damage point going away, it was obvious.

Yes, both.  I never consider that as a possible reason.  I will try it without weather and tires and see what happens.  Thanks!

Issues with version 4 / Throttle won't shut off
« on: December 03, 2014, 08:08:35 PM »
I just recently (last week) put our track but up after over a year in storage.  The controllers we have are stock Scalextric and have previously been used a good bit.  Like the track, they also have been sitting unused for over a year.

We loaded the new version of the software without issue.  Calibrated the controllers and started racing.  What we noticed was that the cars stayed powered on for a split second after the throttle was release (we could tell by the headlights still being on).  It made the cars very hard to drive due to our track layout being very small (3 ft x 14 ft space, Betrand style figure 8).

We changed the throttle profile to one that had a dead zone at the low end and the cars were much easier to drive and acted properly.  Do you think that the issue we saw is with the old, used equipment?  Or, is there something in the software that might be causing it?

Issues with version 4 / Re: Avast VirusScan Software issue with RCS64
« on: December 03, 2014, 07:59:09 PM »
FWIW... I am using Avast Internet Security (one of the paid versions) and did not have this problem.  This computer is not online anymore, so I am not getting avast updates or doing routine scans anymore.  I loaded rcs64 from a usb stick as opposed to downloading it.  I did turn Avast off when doing the install.

What would be really neat is if that same rain screen came up when the weather switched to 'wet' during a race.
