Windows 8 - Issues affecting RCS64 - not working

I am using windows 8.1

RCS 64 v4 was working fine... running perfect....last month

This month, it doesn't work (I presume that the last windows updates have somehow messed up RCS 64)
I have had a primary computer using RCS 64 and a backup PC for running race nights (both Computers running windows 8 and both working a month ago)
(I hope that doesn't mess up my "EULA" but it was a backup PC)

I let my computers do automatic updates, the both now have the same issue.

The Issue..
Run RCS64, it boots fine shows the main screen.... you can see "exit" "about" etc and their buttons work show the data and close the program....
If you let the program sit for 30 or so seconds - The program title, and dialog box controls dim and none of the buttons or controls don't work...
The only thing that works is the tabs for "Race Management" etc  That's the Limit... I doesn't work at all now....

I have a bit of a drama now....I have a scheduled race night in a two night time...and no RCS64

I have tried Re-install, clean install and trying to run in compatibility modes...nothing is working

Any Ideas?

Have you entered the correct Reg key?

The correct reg codes were used....

I kept going with trying to fix it last night...

After lots of pain I found this as a fix...I think one of the configuration ini files was making the program error somehow.
Step 1:
I deleted the configuration ini files in the c:\user\xxxx\appdata\rcs64\

Step 2:
Opened RCS64 and it all worked (as unregistered no sign of errors)

Step 3:
Copied my backup of cars.ini into user folder and cars picture folder (repeated step 2)
Cars came back into program still no errors

Step 4:
Copied my backup of settings2.ini into user folder (repeated step 2)
Drivers and races came back into program still no errors

Then I re entered my reg code, and everything appears to be ok again
