v4 how it works / How to control the refuel time?
« on: September 29, 2015, 11:52:03 AM »
Hi guys, lovely software you´ve got here!
But I wonder how to control the refuel time. Say I set tank size to 1000 on my cars, and Burn rate to 10. This gives me about 35 laps on a full tank with my GT40:s, which is about what I want. Now, say I want to set the refuel time to 5 sec. I realize there is this "Refuel Speed (0-200)" setting. But although a lot of experimenting, I dont understand how to translate this into real seconds. What does the equation look like?
Thanks in advance.
Matt

Issues with version 4 / Re: Bug report: Controller calibration not working
« on: September 22, 2015, 09:29:23 AM »
Thankyou for that link, It turned out that I started to press the trigger fully before clicking OK on the MessageBox telling you to hold trigger during the calibration. I did it in order to not starting to press too late, but it turned out that when doing so  the calibration process aborts. It gives no message about it though.

Pressing the trigger AFTER clicking OK makes the calibration work though.

Well, when I calibrate there is the progress bar while not pressing the trigger. Then comes the message telling you to fully press it for 3sec. So I press the trigger, click ok and wait. Now nothing more happens (no finished message, and the Done button is disabled all the time) so the problem might be here. I'm not sure though what I could do differently.

When live monitoring the controller in the graph afterwards everything looks fine. The curve follows the trigger input.

Any suggestions?

I guess you might know about this too.

For me the controller calibration doesn't work. Making the calibration everything looks fine. If logging in the real-time graph afterwards everything looks right. Though when starting a race session the green meter to the right indicates that the controller is pressed for full speed even when not touched. Though in reality the car gets fed nothing when not pressing at all, and full spreed when pressing just a little. I.e. full or nothing.

Doesn't matter which controller (1-6) I try to calibrate. I have tried with different physical controllers too.

Issues with version 4 / Bug report: Selecting drivers
« on: September 20, 2015, 09:12:20 PM »
This is a bug related to selecting drivers on the "Race Management - Single Event" tab.

Lets say I have controller 2, 3 and 4 activated (i.e. SSD Controller) on the "Race Management - Controller" tab. The rest are disabled. Now on the "Race Management - Single Event" tab I want to select Driver1 on controller 2, Driver2 on controller 3 and Driver3 on controller 4. Though, last time I raced Driver1 was running with controller 1 which now is disabled (if the physical controller is attached or not doesnt seem to matter). This means the Driver1 is still selected on controller 1, though grayed out, and impossible to change on the "Single Event" tab. Now is the thing. Sometimes I still can select Driver1 for controller2, resulting in Driver1 being selected both on controller1 (which is grayed out and disabled), and on controller2. But when starting the race, it wont be Driver1 but the next one in the drivers list on "Race Management - Driver" tab who is tied to this controller2. Other times though (cant seem to figure out when), I can not select Driver1 for controller2, since Driver1 already is tied to controller1 (which is grayed out and disabled).

This is really frustrating, cause in order to make everything work as intended, I have to go back and enable controllers in order too free up drivers, before I can tie them to the controllers that I actually wanna use.

Im running:
RCS64 4.1.0.22
Windows 7 Pro, 64bit

Mattias

No, use the car set up. There you can adjust the power with a full tank for each car.
Oh, of course. Thankyou.

I would like to experiment with a larger lap time difference between full tank and almost empty tank.

Wait, could it be I actually can do that by setting a higher tank size and a lower burn rate?

There is no way to change how the fuel load simulation calculates, right?

Arduino / Re: Arduino protocol?

Hi Kåre!
I saw the startlight on your website. It looks really good. Are you making the actual tower yourself?
And I must say Im really impressed by the plans for the SmartMegaSensor. If you can pull that off, well, wow.

What I had in mind when I started this thread except building startlight was to maybe build a pair of physical dashboards (of some kind) showing damage, penalty, fuel level and tyres for all the drivers. It would be great to have one in each direction at my track, since it´s hard to see the computer screen for all the drivers.
But to do something like that I would need to know how to establish the serial connection between the Arduino (i.e. the Atmega uC) and RCS64, code wice. The protocol shared in this thread doesnt tell.
I also would need a way to receive all that information from RCS64, and today that doesnt seem to be managable. Though, I make it a wish for the future.

So I hooked up an Arduino Uno, connected it to RCS64 and downloaded the firmware. Everything works just fine. You have done a really good job with this, making it easy for anyone to build start lights with an Arduino without having to do any coding! Didnt know it was there.

Just curious; what are the use of the led9 and led10 in the "Simple Arduino test" window?

By the way, the protocol you shared doesnt tell how to establish the connection, but I think Im content with the firmware avaliable for now.

Ok. Ill start take a peek at the protocol you sent me. We´ll see what comes out of it.

So presently there isnt any way to receive info about fuel level or tyre condition?

It would be sweet to write an Arduino lib for the RCS64...
