: RCS64 and ARC pro?
: Aurigarius January 29, 2019, 01:20:28 PM
First of all - thanks for letting me in.  ;)

Up to now I am using C7042 with RCS64 and I love it.
But Scaley goes all ARC in the future. c7042 will be discontinued.

I wonder (hope so!) that RCS64 will be usable with ARC pro in future, so users will still have the best RCS and (more) up to date hardware.

What do you guys think?

Sorry as long as ARC-Pro only use BLE as communication protocol RCS will never spent time on this. Thats why we have desided to go for slot.it Wireless solution called Oxigen

Hi, so why no further development into BLE? It’s not proprietary and I reckon ARC could do with the features RCS provides. Is that a budgetary issue? I mean serial ports are very outdated and slow technology and wireless is wireless anyway you look at it. Bluetooth is also wireless so why the decision to not advance into this area?

BLE have a latency that will not alow any simulation. Also most PC does only support Bluetooth and not BLE. As BLE have to much latency and only reason why it excist is because of the low energy part.

I know you can buy some BLE dongles for the PC and dsometimes there is a Windows driver for this, but then we have to make a specific driver for that specific hardware and it will only be a lapcounter no simulation is allowed.

Thats the main reason, If just Hornby opened up for a usb connection. And that is not Obsolete and is pretty sure this will continue for many years..

Thats why we ended to go for the Oxigen part. I know its a bit more expensive but its also more profesionel.
