Issues with RCS64 - all of the buttons stop working
« on: May 29, 2015, 01:17:03 PM »
Hi all

I have a odd issue with RCS64 which keeps on cropping up.

Sometimes all the buttons will stop working - they grey out (to show they have been pressed) but that it, this includes the exit button.

When this does happen even re-installing the software does not fix it. The only way I have been able to fix it is to delete my saved data and restore RCS64 back to its default settings.

This brings me to the conclusion that its may saved data that is somehow becoming 'corrupt'. This is the 4th times its happened in the 10days I have owned the software.

RCS64 is latest (paid) version
All driver updates are up to date
Power base is on latest version
Im running Windows 7 ultimate on a 'blank' PC eg no other software installed.
Im running 8GB ram and its a 4100 quad core and a 1GB AMD Radion graphics card
Never see the processor over 27%
I have Smart Sensors installed along with Arduino (latest version etc.)

Settings:

I set up 6 cars and 6 racers
All racers are on the same throttle map
All cars share the same settings

Has anyone else experienced this?

-How is your car setup for each controller(Are you using car1..6)
- All drivers have individual driver names.

I think RCS64 hangs in a process, and cant get out off it. The question is why and when is that process happen..
Will it not end a race or wont start a race, can you tell me what is the sequence. Is it the problem already when you open RCS64 or?

Its intemittend. I can be doing anything' and it will suddenly happen. All buttons stop working. Only way to fix is to 'control-alt'delete' and teminate it, then restore all rcs64 settings to default (losing my data) :(

as I said its intermittent.

so it can happen whilst setting up cars, driver profiles, saving, during pace car setup, changing throttle profiles etc etc..... basically whenever I am pressing a button in RCS64, regardless to what I am doing at the time.

I don't recall it ever locking after a race. Its always when changing 'settings' eg when RCS64 is saving or changing its settings.

This is why I believe the data being saves is getting corrupt somehow, because resetting all settings seems to fix it.

Its more tolerable now as I have exported my car settings so can easily re-import then when it happens.... for my drivers I am just leaving them as default (named driver 1-6 and with the default 'linear' throttle profile.).

RCS64 is is checcking for connnected controllers all the time, this is to check if a controller is disabled and to check the connection to the powerbase. If the connection timeout it grey out many off the features that need the powerbase, like startbutton and controller enable/disable.

The strange thing is that there does not seems to be a pattern for this fault, could it be a timeout from the pwerbase. I am just guessing. If so it could be a hardware issue.

How is your latency setup?
Do you have any antivirus scanner installed?

I am currently  having the same issue.  I also have the most current updates and firmwares.  I was attempting to add a new driver for a race then everything stopped working. I was able to switch between the screen tabs, but no other buttons worked.  Ctrl-alt-del was the only way to shut it down. Restarting and re-installing did not fix the issue.  Has someone found a solution?

Try load factory defaults.

Make sure you havent chossed the same car for more than one user.

Thank you Martin,

I reset to default settings.  So far it's working just fine.  Just have to reprogram the cars and pacers.  If it happens again, I'll let you know what exactly caused it....if I can that is.

RCS64 use the user aplication folder for all the settings. under Roaming you can find a RCS64 folder, try to delete this folder when RCS64 is closed.

Then when RCS64 startup it generate default data.
