Arduino Protocol

Is the protocol for Arduino going to be open sourced, or is it available? Don't get me wrong, I love the current plug and play set up. I was able to get start lights up and running in less than 15 minutes! It seems like there is so much that could be added to the functionality of RCS64 through Arduino. Lighting effects for weather conditions, consoles for each racer with fuel, tire wear and damage, things cued at the end of the race, the possibilities seem endless.

The Arduino is delivered by Kåre, the creater off smartsensor, and I am not sure he want it to be open source.
The communication protocol is open so your always welcome to design our own code, and I can make sure to support it as long as it use the same commands.
