Issues with version 4 / Re: Auto-Pit keeps turning off
« on: December 09, 2014, 09:40:01 PM »
OK, what I found was that if I get the settings how I want, then SAVE the settings, then EXIT... the NEXT time I start the program, I can see the settings are saved while RCS64 checks all the com ports for devices. After that process is complete, and it has found my APB, Pit-Pro, and Scorpius dongle, then Auto-Pit is unchecked and greyed out.
If I exit and restart RCS64, the Auto-pit option is STILL greyed out during the com port check process. It would appear that my setting is being overwritten for some reason, some how, during that com port check process.
No matter what I do, save or not save the settings, when I start RCS64, the auto-pit option will end up disabled, and grey. The only way I can enable it is to disable Pit-Pro, enable Pit-Pro, then Auto-pit is available, and I can enable it.
Here's a screen shot of my main page, in case that helps at all.

I'm sorry if I caused any frustration or anything. I'm just trying to get onto the same page so that the discussion can progress.
It's clearly an issue of semantics that is causing this confusion, so maybe you can help, Vector. If you can gain an understanding of what Martin means, and convey that to me and Grunz, then I'm sure we can provide the answer he seeks.

Windows XP SP3, release version of RCS64. I have the actual Pit-Pro hardware, not SS in Pit-Pro mode.
Pit-Pro option is saved and remembered, but auto-pit is not, as I said.
Do you want to know make and model of the laptop? Processor, ram? What do you need to know about my setup? I'm happy to give you that information.
I'll go test it again, and get a couple screen shots so that you can see all my main page settings, in case something important is being missed.

If possible, the refueling should be stopped at the point it was last at when crossing the sensor. Tire change and repair would be trickier, but would it be possible to keep the time spent so that the next time the car comes in to take care of those things, the remaining time is all it would take? So, if repair or tire change were set to 10 seconds, and the car was pushed out at 5s to go, when he comes in to repair or change tires, it only takes 5 seconds? I wouldn't want him to get a full repair or tire change by being pushed out, but I also wouldn't want him penalized by having to start from scratch.

As for detecting what car pushed the other out if you have two lanes... can you describe the sensor and track/pit layout that your question is based on? All the pit lanes I race on, whether one lane or two,  have a pit in sensor before the pit lane splits into two lanes, and the pit exit sensor is after the two lanes come down to one... you would know who pushed the car out of the pit by the ID of the car immediately following the one being pushed out. Or, to be more precise, the ID of the ACTIVE car (not in the pit menu) following any and all cars being pushed over the sensor that are still in the pit menu. This would allow for situations where a magnet racer is able to push multiple cars through the pit exit and back onto the track.

I need to know what kind of track and sensor arrangement you are basing your question on, because I still can't figure out why you're asking it.

v4 how it works / Re: Start race on ???? tires

This was a hidden gem for me as well. One of the guys at the race on Sunday figured this out for us after we had stopped racing with RCS64. It's convenient to see the track temp, and forecast, and be able to set your tires accordingly, before the race begins.

Err... yeah. what does the number of pit lanes have to do with it?

Is he saying that setting it to 0, even with ATC off, will trigger an ATC?

Issues with version 4 / Re: Damage points
« on: December 09, 2014, 05:57:29 PM »
What was the problem?
That's how damage points work. You lose one for each track call. You can remove one for yourself during a track call by pressing the LC button. You can correct an incorrectly removed point by pressing LC. It will toggle back and forth between removing a point and not removing a point.
When you get down to zero, the car will go to it's predetermined safe speed, and I believe it will not count laps.
Unfortunately, in analog mode, if you have a pit lane with sensors, you can't access the pit menu to repair damage, so be sure to turn pit sensors off when running analog mode with pit lane features, including damage. At least, I think it won't work. In any case, if you stop and go into the pit menu, you can repair damage, which will restore your car to full damage points remaining (full health), and allow you to continue racing at normal speed.

The above proposal would be much better than the current way.
Not sure about the color for tires, but I'm not sure what to suggest for that so that it's not confused with fuel.

v4 how it works / Re: Dashboard Explanation

I did notice the dashboard boxes can be adjusted. It would be cool if RCS could be updated in the future to allow custom dashboard sizing that is saved. :)

I agree that percentages are more accurate, but they're not as easy to check at a glance while racing.

Also, with all the boxes having nothing but numbers, it's very easy to forget which one has which number and what it means.

Over time, we would become accustomed to it, so this would be primarily beneficial for newer users, but making the dashboard more user friendly and intuitive isn't a bad thing. :)

v4 how it works / Re: Database(s) to copy?
« on: December 08, 2014, 09:05:36 PM »
I don't want to analyze things, I just want to be able to bring the data on a USB drive so that it can be easily moved between tracks. My club runs a variety of tracks, rather than just one.

We were just goofing around, but yes, I would imagine a penalty would be applied if that happened in a race.
