Can't get my own sounds to work
« on: November 20, 2015, 01:05:26 PM »
Hi

I've been trying to get my own sounds on to RCS but with no luck. I have a load of Le Mans sounds from SSDC that I want to use for cars passing the SF line. I've done some research on here and Slot Forum and Ade said they have to be 8bit WAV files, so I've saved them as such using Audacity. I then go to the 'sound' tab and click 'add', go to the folder and there's no files, as if it's the wrong format.

Am I missing something really obvious? No doubt I am, so any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Steve

When you have added them restart RCS64, and make sure to choose them for the right category.

Thanks for the speedy reply Martin. The problem is that when I go to the folder containing my sound files, there are no items that match my search, wwhen I open the folder but not from RCS then all my sounds are there.

Is 8bit wav the right file type? Can they be MP3?

A bit more help please, so far so good, I've now got 6 different LMP car sounds on the SF line and it's brilliant thanks! I'm playing with the background sound option now, I've deleted 3 of them and kept the Track Ambiance one, I've edited it in Audacity to make it much quieter, that way I can have it playing on loop without it bothering me. I also looped it which has made it over a minute long. When I put it back in the background folder it won't play, is there a time restriction on sounds? If so I could keep the original length and just set trigger time to 0 or 1 second, I presume that'll also work like a loop?
Loving every bit of this software, wish I hadn't wasted a year on SSDC!

Thanks Martin, are we talking days or weeks? No pressure I'm just wondering.

Is there also an issue with the pit exit sound for non sensored pit entry/exit. Normally when I click the exit button the voice says 'exit, exit now' which is good but I've cut a sample of MW saying 'go go go' which I want to use, the only place the 'exit now' sample can be swapped is the 'stop/go exit' sound.

Hi Martin

I'll keep my eyes open and my ear to the ground then.... Any chance you could add the ability to change the pit out sound? I don't mind the guy saying 'exit, exit now' but the screechy F1 car after it sounds out of place.

Here's hoping  :)

About this, the new version will not have the Go setting, you exit the pit menu by the throttle..

Now that sounds interesting, it's always a bit of a fumble for new racers to get to the 'Go' option, good plan!

Will there still be an exit sound though? If so then pleeease make it changeable :-)
